Investing in Affordable Housing
We must do everything we can to lower housing costs in our community. I will advocate for a zoning and permit reform bill to supercharge our housing and infrastructure investments when elected. We need laws that protect tenants, renters, manufactured home owners and seniors from predatory corporate entities. I fought for the residents of Meridian Mobile Estates in Puyallup and Cottonwood mobile homes in unincorporated Pierce County. As a representative, I will work to pass laws that create affordable housing, increase our inventory and protect our communities from predatory corporations. We will reduce costs for new home buyers by increasing inventory and protect tenants with rent stabilization. As a real estate investor I understand that there must be protections for small landlords such as tax breaks for seniors with rental properties. We must begin to put people over profit so that we can end our homelessness crisis. I will also sponsor a bill that should make it impossible for Wall Street hedge funds to buy homes in Washington State. Currently around 20% of our single family homes are being bought by large investors, this needs to stop so that we can increase the supply of homes available.
